Run for Your Life — Update

As I related in Part 1 and Part 2, I have set the personal goal of running a half marathon as a participant in the CCFA (Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America*) Team Challenge. Unfortunately my Crohn’s disease apparently hasn’t yet received the emails and SMS notifying it of my new runner status. A series of health issues have made running 13.1 miles in a mere 60 days something of an impossibility.

With regards to my goal, I have not given up. This is merely a schedule change — nothing more. I will overcome my current health setbacks and I will participate in Team Challenge at the ING Miami Half Marathon on January 31, 2009. As I’ve stated previously, I’m intent on giving my all to achieve this goal. And with your support, I will succeed.

There are two bits of good news in all of this. First, I look at this as meaning I have an extra 12 months to get into shape, because I will definitely be running in Team Challenge in January 2009. And second, my wife Priya will be running in this January’s Team Challenge event, raising awareness of Crohn’s and raising much needed research funds. Read the rest of this entry »
